Dr. Vasant Ramlaggan , DDS, HBSc

With 24 years of dental experience, Dr. Ramlaggan is well versed in all aspects of dentistry and goes well above requirements for continuing education each year. His areas of interest and expertise include Invisalign using accelerated devices to cut treatment time in half, clear and regular braces including non-surgical (no teeth removal necessary) orthodontic treatments, cosmetic treatment including crowns and veneers, TMD (jaw disorder) treatments, sleep apnea and snoring appliances, gum surgeries, fully impacted wisdom teeth removals, and root canal treatments and re-treatments. Dr. Ramlaggan has been using Twilight Dentistry (medicated relaxed dentistry) for over 12 years now to help his apprehensive patients.

Dr. Ramlaggan is also experienced in and is known for his full mouth reconstructions for severely damaged teeth and jaws and in creating functional, aesthetic smiles!

Dr. Vasant Ramlaggan achieved his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1995 from the State University of New York, School of Dental Medicine, a top 6 U.S. Dental School. He completed his Specialist Honours B.Sc. undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in Microbiology and Human Biology.

Accepted into several residency programmes in the U.S. and graduating in the only year qualified to practise in 25 states, Dr. Ramlaggan chose to return to his Southern Ontario community to complete a one-year Special Care Dentistry programme. During this time, he had the opportunity to care for a variety of patients, including those with disabilities. He served in Northern Ontario communities’ special care facilities, Mount Sinai, TGH, and Sick Kid’s hospitals and at the University of Toronto dental school. He has lectured to dentists on Smoking Cessation and Dental Lasers.

Dr. Ramlaggan believes we have a duty to support our local and worldwide communities through donations and volunteering.

Originally from Niagara Falls, Dr. Ramlaggan has spent most of his adult life in Toronto area. He is happily married and enjoys spending time with his wife and three amazing children. In his free time, he practises Iyengar Yoga, reads, loves all things Sci-Fi, barbecuing, movies and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Vakilian, DMD, BSc


Dentist

Dr. Vakilian grew up in Vancouver where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of British Columbia. She then went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary where she finished top five percentile in her class. She has completed Specialized Internship Program both in Oral Surgery and Endodontics where she gained extra clinical and hands on experience.

Dr. Vakilian strives to continuously grow with the field of dentistry by enrolling in various lectures, seminars and Continuing Education courses.

In her spare time, Dr. Vakilian loves to jog and explore the outdoors of Toronto. She also takes great enjoyment in cooking and trying new recipes for her friends and family.

Dr. Vera Telyakova, D.D.S.


Dentist

Dr. Vera Telyakova originally graduated from the Stavropol State Medical Academy in Russia and then completed a dental residency at M.F Vladimirsky Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute. After spending some time working in private practice in Moscow, Dr. Telyakova immigrated to Canada and sought to enhance her dental knowledge and skills. She did so by attending the University of Toronto and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with Honours.

During this time, she won accolades and recognition, including scholarships for excellence in clinical and theoretical restorative dentistry and prosthodontics from the University of Toronto and a scholarship that permitted her to receive additional cosmetic dentistry training from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. In her spare time, Dr. Telyakova enjoys painting, drawing, and photography. Her paintings were presented at the University of Toronto Art Exhibition for the two consequent years.

Dr. Bomee Kim, D.D.S.


Dentist

Dr. Bomee Kim studied Nutritional Sciences and Pharmacology at University of Toronto before completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery also at University of Toronto. She graduated with awards in restorative dentistry and anaesthesia. She is passionate about providing dental servies to those who are anxious. As such, she has decided to return to University of Toronto study Dental Anaesthesia, where she is learning to provide sedation and general anaesthesia.


Dr. Ron Zohar, DMD, PhD, FRCD (C)


Periodontist

Dr. Ron Zohar obtained his Bachelor in Medical Science from the Faculty of Medicine, Ben Gurion University, Israel. He completed his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree in 1987 from Tel-Aviv University where he joined the teaching staff of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry shortly after his graduation.

Dr. Zohar started his post-graduate training in Periodontology at Tel-Aviv University and went to the University of Toronto in 1994 to take part in a PhD/Clinical periodontology program, in which he completed in 1998. In 2000, he joined the fellowship of the Royal College of Dentists of Canadian Periodontology.

Dr. Zohar returned to Toronto in 2002 to take on a full time role at the University of Toronto where he was active in clinical training as well as building a clinically translational research. He also served as an examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Periodontics. Dr. Zohar’s clinical work is focused on Regenerative Periodontology and Implant therapy.

Dr. Dianna Malkin, DDS., M.Sc., FRCD(C)


Periodontist

Dr. Dianna Malkin, D.D.S., M.Sc. (Perio) F.R.C.D.(C) received her dental degree at Western University (UWO) after studying Chemistry at York University. After practicing as a general dentist for several years, she pursued her specialty training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery. She received her Master’s in Periodontology at the University of Toronto. Her master’s research focused on diabetic healing of bone tissue.

Dr. Malkin is a Canadian board-certified periodontist. Her scope of practice includes
treatment of periodontal diseases, soft tissue grafting and regeneration of periodontal tissues. She also performs a wide range of implant dentistry procedures such as dental implant placement, ridge preservation and bone grafting surgeries including ridge augmentation and sinus grafting. She is a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto in Undergraduate Dentistry. Dr. Malkin is a Fellow at the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, the Canadian Dental
Association, the Alpha Omega Dentistry Organization and was a past president of the student chapter branch at Western University. As an advocate for improving patient education and access to dental care, she was on the Executive Committee for Oral Health, Total Health London, an organization devoted to promoting access to care for special needs patients. She was also an active participant in the Dental Outreach Community Service program in London.

Dr. Malkin speaks three languages and loves travelling. She enjoys hiking, painting and yoga. Dr. Malkin treats her patients with great care and respect. She wants all her patients to leave their dental appointments with a beautiful, healthy smile and a happy
heart.
