Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is one of the most common procedures we recommend to our patients who want to improve their smile at a lower cost. It uses composite resin material and is bonded to the tooth to restore their smile. Composite materials are tooth-colored so the dental restoration closely matches the patient’s natural teeth color and appearance.
The dental bonding procedure is used to fix and restore:
- Decayed teeth
- Teeth with gaps
- A broken or chipped tooth
- Discolored teeth
- Teeth that smaller or badly-shaped
- Roots of a tooth that are exposed due to gum recession
Our team of dental professionals performs dental bonding procedure using the following methods.
Tooth Preparation
There is minimal preparation when our dentist begins the bonding procedure. In most cases, local anesthesia is no longer required unless the procedure aims to restore a decayed tooth. He uses a shade guide in choosing the color of the composite resin material that closely matches your teeth’s natural color.
Bonding process
Next, our dentist roughens the surface of your tooth as he applies a conditioning liquid. This allows the composite resin to adhere to the tooth. Then, he applies the putty-like resin material, molds and shapes it to complement the diseased tooth. Once the desired shape is achieved, the dentist uses laser light to harden the material. Lastly, he trims and polishes the restoration so it matches with the rest of the natural teeth.
